Accessibility.

We want everyone to be able to use this website. Here’s what we’ve done, what’s built in, and how to tell us if something doesn’t work for you.

What we aim for

We design and build this site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. For text we go further: every line is set to a contrast of at least 7:1 against what it sits on, the stricter AAA level.

Built into every page

The accessibility button at the bottom of each page opens a panel with ten settings:

  • larger text, in two steps;
  • an easier-to-read font;
  • more space between lines and letters;
  • links highlighted;
  • three contrast modes;
  • animations stopped;
  • images hidden;
  • a reading guide;
  • a larger cursor.

Your choices are kept in your own browser, so they’re there next time you visit. They aren’t sent to us or to anyone else.

Movement

If your device is set to reduce motion, the site’s animations stay still. The panel’s “stop animations” setting does the same on any device.

Images

Pictures that carry information have text descriptions for screen readers. Decorative images, such as the cube artwork, are hidden from them.

Keyboard

You can move through each page with a keyboard, and a “skip to content” link at the top takes you past the menu.

Where we’re still working

  • The map on our Contact page comes from Google, and we can’t change how it works. Our address and directions are written out beside it.
  • Some older blog posts were written before these standards, and we’re reviewing them.

Tell us if something doesn’t work

If any part of this site is hard to use, email contact@onlinedesignuk.co.uk or call 01332 460064. Tell us the page and what happened. You’ll hear back from us the same working day.
