Selecting the right typeface to use for your branding is incredibly important, it will set the tone for your companies public image and needs to convey the right message at first glance.
If you want to play it safe then look at timeless fonts such as Helvetica. It's sleek clean lines and classic style have meant that it has stayed in favour with many designers. However with 2018 trending towards brash and bold you may want to go with a more brave choice. These are some of the styles we are seeing emerge.
Vintage style branding and marketing were all the rage just a few years ago, although this isn't back in full force we are seeing a reemergence of vintage and retro typefaces. You need to be very careful in your selection if you decide to go this root and make sure that the styling doesn't conflict with the product and service you wish to sell. For example if you are promoting your trendy wine bar you don't want to look like an old time saloon!
One of our favourite trends is the geometric pattern and fonts we are seeing selected. This can bring a hint of the retro while keeping a modern feel. Great for logos and banners but be sure to marry this with something simpler to ensure it doesn't overwhelm.
Another firm favourite is the artistic flavour that has become poplar, illustrations and fonts with a hand drawn and painted feel are adding a beautiful twist to the mundane minimalist design of recent times while keeping a clean crisp backdrop to ensure the marketing remains coherent.
So keeping to the standard clean lines and spacial layouts is still a key feature but giving your marketing a fun twist with colour and form is a leading trend in 2018.
